About

What is arCAKEology? Is it an archaeological study of baking? Archaeology themed cakes? Both, and then some more. But no dinosaurs.

I am an archaeologist and art historian by training. I’ve taught art history and mythology in university, been a curator in a museum, and participated in several archaeological excavations. I also love to bake and while I have been baking for a long time, it was only a couple of years ago that I started decorating cakes. As I now try to (slowly) start a cake and cake pop business, I’ve decided it’s fun to talk about my cakes and do a bit of “personal archaeology,” as I look into my baking roots, while exploring other subjects.
